Follow Events

Allow a user to ‘follow’ events, so that they could keep up with cons without continuously searching the events page or leaving tabs open. Followed events could be a part of a users dashboard or in the "your events" tab on the events page.

This is useful for two reasons:

1) keeping tabs on friends’ events, majors, etc for curiosity’s sake
2) marking an event that I’m considering attending and having in an easy to find section of the events page

Single-page tourney report

We need a way to display the results of a tournament with round by round faction and/or subfaction selection on a single page.

All of the data is here, but you have to click into the round pairings to see the info.

Custom number of Tables for tourney

When setting up a tournament, it would also be nice to be able to set a custom number of tables. I usually have a few more tables set up than I actually need for the number of players; in the past I've ended up using these "overflow" tables to shuffle players over to if they had already played on the table number they were assigned to.
I'm assuming having the system aware of the extra tables would make it easier for the system to avoid players having repeat tables.

Tournament/League with pods

Please add a way to divide players into pods for a tournament or league. For example, 16 players being able to be divided into 4 pods of 4 players and being able to report games within that pod. Perhaps being able to press a button to create the tree-style tournament from the cut out of those players?

Add a system for allowing Club v club events

A system that would allow players to be divided into competing teams/clubs for an event. Wherein, players can only play against opposing team/club players.

Players join or are assigned their team by the host, who can control how many teams can exist in the event and how many spaces each can have.

A leaderboard for all players still being included but include a total Tournament Point counter for the teams too.

Malifaux - Automatically assign Attacker/Defender and display in pairings.

When pairings are set, assign attacker/defender so players know this when they get to their table.

Event organizers should be able to choose between random assignment, lower standing attacker (MWS/UK), or higher standing attacker (GG).

For Malifaux: Limit faction leader Drop down to declared faction when entering game results

There are a lot of leaders in Malifaux now and each has 2 versions. When entering information for a game, it's a pain to be able to scroll through all of the possible options to find the correct master to enter. Limiting the leaders visible in the drop down to the player's declared faction would speed things up.

Trophy Case on Dashboard

Would it be possible to display your combined trophy case for all games on your own player dashboard? It would be kind of fun to have a quick an easy way to see all the "trophies" you've gained across all games in one place. I'd think it could slot in either immediately before or after the Friend & Rivals section on your dashboard.

An app

I know there'd be hefty costs involved in setting it up but an app, even with limited functionality, would make the site significantly easier to use at events and the like.

Even if it followed Best Coast Pairings lead and had an app with limited functionality to keep things streamlined, potentially just showing the events your signed up for, your tables and opponents etc.

How many big tournaments were there?

Could you pleas implement an option to (when viewing past tournaments) sort or show only ones that have a certain size (10+ players, 24+ players, etc.)
If you don't know the community, you might not know if an event is on the average/smaller size which can influence if to travel to the event.

Option to sort DNF players to the bottom

Many players expect players who drop before the last round (DNF, or "did not finish") to sort to the bottom of the standings. Basically, they want a player who quit before the even of the event to always be ranked below one who didn't. I could see circumstances where a TO might want a DNF player to be sorted into the rankings, so maybe make it an advanced event setting? And/or even something that can be overridden on a player-by-player basis, in case the TO wants to make it work one way by default, but put someone in the rankings if they have a good excuse for dropping?

Point value as part of event setup

Several game systems tend to use the same point value for all rounds in a single event. It would be great to be able to enter the point value of the event during event creation, which would apply to round 1 (and therefore auto-fill to future rounds after that). It could also display on the event page so that it didn't need to be part of the event name/description.

Language selection

A suggestion!

So being situated in the center of Europe (Belgium) we're surrounded by multiple languages (German in the south, France in the West, Spain and Italian on a short flight away)

There we noticed that a lot of organisers are still using outdated software like tabletoptournaments.net. When talking to some TO's why not use Longshanks, the reply was "Too many English words". Which made me thinking.

These are the (movie voice over dubbing countries) which makes their natural English not good enough. And that is the reason I think why a lot of boardgame designer have their games also translated to mainly Spanish, German and French.
At the same time the Dutch or Balkan languages have generally a good understanding of English due to never dubbing English movie & series content.

So my suggestion is to see if you can implement a language module? Where and individual can choose the language of the site? (Mainly for Spanish, French, German, and maybe Italian?)

Add point value to data filters

Some games (particularly Conquest, but probably others) are played at different point values, but have been said to be balanced differently depending on which point value you're playing at; some armies are better at low point values and not as good at high ones. It would be great if, when looking at statistics, you could filter down to a specific point value to see the rankings, graphs, and everything else for games played at that specific point value.

Win/Loss vs other players

It would be great to have a way to view your win/loss record against specific players.
For example, if you click on a user's profile (and you have played them) it will show your record versus them.
An/Or on your profile it would show your win/loss record against all of your opponents in a list, where you can sort by # of plays, win #, loss#, percentage and be able to expand to see the affiliations they used.

BGStats on iOS has a similar feature for boardgames.

Player Ranking page forward/back button placement

Please duplicate the forward & back buttons on the Player Rankings page at the top of the page so that players who know they aren't near the top can forward themselves to the lower rankings where they are without having to scroll down to the bottom of each page of rankings. Of course you'll want to still have those forward/back buttons available at the bottom of each ranking pages as well.

Toggle for list lock in tournaments

An option to keep army lists open between rounds/after the rounds go active, this makes it possible to run escalation leagues or similar events without the host needing to update lists on behalf of players.

Affiliation leader stats from an event

When calculating affiliation leader after an event, could a event statistics page show the best result for an affiliation leader?
This would be independent of overall rankings, if a player goes 6-0, but only plays 1 game with affiliation X, they would be below someone who went 2-0 with the same affiliation.
Could be calculated off of TP scored with affiliation, with tiebreaker going to best overall result?

Hidden tie breakers

Star Wars Legion - List Integration and Points Destroyed/Lost

For Star Wars Legion it would be very convenient to have a function to import lists from TabletopAdmiral and LegionHQ and then select units that were killed/destroyed to quickly come up with the calculation. This is a common tie breaker and having it integrated into longshanks would be very helpful to players.

Export results

A way to export event results as a spreadsheet.

For TOs managing leagues or series' with different scoring systems, a way to quickly export results would be great. We are often submitting results to different series and currently there is no easy way to import results from LS into series standings hosted elsewhere.

Add Code of Conduct option while registering for events

Giving TOs the option to implement a Code of Conduct that attendees must read and confirm that agreement too. Toxic players are an unfortunate fact of life, having a Code of Conduct that players must read and confirm their understanding, makes TOs lives' easier if any incidents happen in events.

WARMACHINE MK4 caster used

As WARMACHINE uses multi-list format typically in tournaments, it would be very interesting to see which warcaster/warlock was used in each match.

Therefore, add a new field in game reporting which is warcaster/warlock used by each player.

The best way to implement this would be a dropdown selection which includes those casters available to the Army the player is using. There are typically 3-4 casters in each Army so only those in question would be shown in dropdown to make the selection faster for the user. Unlimited Army would still have all casters of the faction though.

Warcaster tracking 1st and 2nd Player

Warmachine MK4 - Split armies out from factions

in Mk4 there are no more cross-army pairings. This means results for 'Cygnar' covers three distinct armies, and there are more cases of this.

All current factions should be split out into armies instead for accurate record keeping.

More Warmachine data from games

Add two new fields to game data reporting in WARMACHINE:

1) Game end clause (options: scenario, caster kill and deathclock)

2) Warcaster/warlock played by each player. If the Faction is changed to Army as per another suggestion then there would be typically 3-4 casters per army which can be selected.

Tie break for teams

When in a team event there are 2 teams with the same TP now the tie break is based in W/L/D, VPS and SOS But there isn’t a setting to decide the order of it.

Multi Tiered Events

A) Once you finish an event have the ability to create a new event and automatically fill it with players from the previous event that are X-1 and better.

B) Building off of this if you have an event made, and run a second heat event be able to select the event to fill with players from the second heat that went X-1 and better.

Direct Encounter Tie Breaker

I've seen this Tie Breaker used in some game systems I've played in the past. It doesn't come up often, but it helps in a niche case where two people are tied, one beat the other, but the other has a higher strength of schedule; it feels bad in this case for the one who lost their game to be placed above the one who didn't win, assuming they're the only two tied at that point.

It should be calculated as follows: If one player has played against and beaten every other player with the same number of TP as them, their Direct Encounter score is 1. Otherwise, it is 0.

BLOOD BOWL

Let the TO edit the bye game

The Conquest tournament rules recently made it so a bye is worth a variable amount of VP. Apparently calculating this on the fly is very hard to do, but as a work-around, if the TO was able to edit the bye game, that would at least make it possible to use VPS as a tiebreaker under this system.

League Sessions

Is there a way to have sessions for league so you can select the players that attend and still keep a record for the whole league. Ex. player only shows up 2 out of 4 but shouldn't get a bye the sessions missed.

Seeded pairing system

The addition of a "seeded" pairing system for Top Cut rounds would aid X-Wing organizers using Longshanks to run their events. In a "seeded" pairing system, the top and bottom-most players in the Top Cut will be paired together, and then the 2nd highest and 2nd lowest, etc. This "bracket style" Top Cut pairing system is what most X-Wing events use. This feature in Longshanks would stop organizers from moving to external tools like Challonge to generate their Top Cut rounds.

Adjustable tournament points for win/loss/draw in Generic events

Community Names On Player List

Is there a way to display players communities next to their player names on the event lists?

Many of our players are signed up to local groups/teams and it would add a nice bit of spice to the events to be able to see which groups of people you're playing against. Many of them also where team merch to events so would be a massive help in finding your opponent.

Added bonus: Team rankings with community combined ratings or something but I imagine that's a lot harder to implement

Malifaux Schemes - Recording Scheme Selections

Schemes in Malifaux are a very important part of the game (50% of the scoring) and are of interest to Malifaux players. It would be interesting for Malifaux players to be able to record their (and their opponents') scheme selections for each game played and therefore be able to see how schemes affect various statistics that are derived from recording games in LS. (I understand this might be one of the harder coding requests)

I would imagine this would be implemented by adding 4 drop down selections below the existing Strategy drop down and above the Soulstone entry. The 4 new entries would be titled something like: Player 1 Scheme A, Player 1 Scheme B, Player 2 Scheme A, Player 2 Scheme B.

(note: I know TOs can pre-enter deployment/strats, but these scheme entries should not be pre-selected by TOs and should be open for player entry)

BYE Selection

Before you "create round" during the filtering steps of enabling or disabling mutual friends and new tables give an option to give someone the bye. That way you don't have to adjust once the pairings come up.
For instance, if you have a tournament and a local volunteers to take a bye so that an out of towner doesn't have to it would make it easier to select the person who volunteered themselves before creating round.

Bonus Points For Games

Unless i'm mistaken, MESBG currently only allows us to award WLD and then the VPs scored/conceded.

I, and many other MESBG events often award additional TPs for secret side missions and things but I don't think this is currently possible.

The Suggestion: Add an additional checkbox for Bonus Mission Scored or something on the game score submission page

[MCP] More Crisis Graphs

Essentially what I'd love to see is more of a drill down into crisis popularity over time. Grouped at monthly (or whatever granularity) see a trend line for each crisis so it's easy to identify meta shifts or what's popular right now vs over a whole year.

Currently you can only view the lists from the top of the event page where all players are listed. It would be nice to also have this button on the table assignments section so I can quickly get to my opponnets list when pairings are announced.

Keep rankings secret

Could we have an option, whereby the Tournament Organiser can choose to keep the rankings hidden from the players, please. They could still see the player list but not their scores or results beside their names.

Warmachine - add caster selection to game recording

Like a lot of games, warmachine matchups are significantly influenced by the casters that each army took. This request is to allow casters selection from a drop down in the game recording screen.

This was very helpful for guildball with captain selection for helping with data analysis.

Ideally a drop down based on what army was selected at game recording would be ideal. This feature request would include adding armies for unlimited selections as well.

Once approved, the data required for each army will be provided by the proponent.

Export results spreadsheet

The ability to export final results into a spreadsheet format would make TO life way easier. We are often submitting results to different series and currently there is no easy way to import results from LS into series standings hosted elsewhere.

Export final results

It would be great if there was a way to export the final results from an event into an excel file or something similar.

Exporting Final Results Into Excel or Similar

I know you've just done a blog post about wanting to keep it all on site but here's why I think this is a borderline essential feature, at least within our community.

Middle Earth SBG in the UK has the Great British Hobbit League as our national rankings system. That's not changing any time soon. There is a form which all events needs to submit their results into in order for these to count for the league.

Currently I have to manually go through and type all of the results out by hand for all of my events and thats a colossal pain in my backside. Almost more effort than the effort saved by running the event on LS in the first place. Especially for the larger events.

I know from speaking to other TOs that this is part of the reason they don't run the events on the platform.

Paywall it if you need to, I'd pay the extra pound or two to not have to spend half an hour typing results out.

Adding Secondary and Supporting Units to Match Submission

Hi there! Big fan of your software, and have been a premier supporter for a little bit now.

Been playing a lot of Shatterpoint, and analyzing the data. I think for that game in particular, only being able to track the win rates and data surrounding primary units doesn’t do the game justice because the secondaries and the supporting units are a big factor.

I was wondering if you guys would be open to letting us add our secondaries and supporting units through the drop-down menu when inputting results. Like we do for primaries. This would make it so much easier for people to track data and not rely on SPT codes.

Furthermore, we can then track the win rate of each unit as a whole and figure out which units may need to be toned down or improved over time. I think it would just be awesome data to talk about, to analyze, to foster discussion, and ultimately help AMG makes some decisions as well.

I think this would be amazing for the community as a whole.

Matched Play for MESBG how in rules

Hello!Could you add the following setting for the system: the ability to check the box to change an ordinary victory to a minor one? In the basic version, a win is 6 points, a draw is 2 points, a loss is 0 points. But if the difference in points between the opponents is less than 2 times or the score is 1:0, then this is considered a minor victory and brings 5 points to the winner and 1 point to the loser?

MCP Affiliation Statistics

This relates to the data on the analysis pages for specific crises.

The graph on that page currently measures the number of games played on the y axis against their win rate on the x axis. This tends to just show how popular an affiliation is, rather than how often that affiliation actually ends up playing on that crisis.

I would like to have an option (or change the default) to be plotting the y axis as "% of games played that were on this crisis".

This would also apply to the "Ranking" view that lists the number of games played by that affiliation on that crisis, but not their total games (which is back on the main screen) or the % of one relative to the other.

I.e. Instead of seeing on the page for the "Fear Grips" Extraction that Avengers has played 953 games, I would see that 17% of their games were played on that crisis. I can then compare that to another affiliation's value, rather than just knowing that they're played more or less in general.

What you are asking for is very similar to functionality that already exists. Check out the "analyze" page for an affiliation and you will be able to see how many games that affiliation has played into each crisis. It isn't shown as a percentage, but you can see all the numbers near each other for easy comparison.

Multiple games under user profile

It would be nice to be able to have all my data across multiple games under my profile. Having to switch between game systems is a pain, especially since I run multiple game systems events in my community.

Statistics Point Filter Option

I'd like to be able to filter statistics by game point values for Conquest, though I believe it would be a useful tool for many other games that have various point levels of play.
Options being games at 1000, 1500, and 2000 point values being a standard for Conquest.

Double confirmation on result submission

For online tournaments, with several days to end each round, a player can submit the result, but the other player can change the result some days after.

With Double confirmation, a player submit the result, and the other player confirm it (and fix it).

This capability should be selected when creating the tournament, because the current system is more agile for in person tournaments (with rounds during match times).

Head to Head Tiebreaker (Leagues)

The ability to use a 'head to head' tiebreaker, especially for a round robin league.

If player A and player B are both 2 wins 1 loss, but player A beat player B in their match, player A would be ranked above player B.
In the event player A, player B and player C are all 2 wins 1 loss but A lost to B, B lost to C and C lost to A, it would rank them all equally.

Is there any app development for tournament organization? Best Coast Pairings has the capability to do match making for MCP and other games but they do not link to Longshanks.
